Top seeds Egypt, England and France taken the distance as Wales upset Scotland
First up was top seeds defending champions and hot favourites Egypt against Germany, and it was Egypt who took the lead as Raphael Kandra came from two games down before losing out to Karim Abdel Gawad.
The second match was a similar story as Ali Farag came from two games down before losing out to Simon Rosner.
Mohamed Abouelghar won the decider in straight games to keep Egypt on track for another title.
In the semi they’ll play Wales who booked their first semi-final appearance since 1999 with a two-nil win over Scotland, Peter Creed and Joel Makin both winning in straight games.
In the evening session there’s an all-European clash between France and Spain plus second v fourth seeds England v New Zealand
Second and third seeds England and France both had to work hard for their wins.
France fell behind to Spain as Iker Pajares beat Gregory Gaultier in a lengthy four games, but Greg Marche and Mathieu Castagnet both won in straight games to put the French through.
James Willstrop put England ahead against New Zealand but Paul Coll levelled for the Kiwis.
Evan Williams took the first and had game ball in the second but Daryl Selby fought back to give England the win and a semi-final against France.
