The scenario was simple – the top two in each of the six Pools progress to the 1-12 playoff (winners of Pools A-D get a first round bye), while the other teams move into the 13-23 playoff draw.
Morning Session Update : France confirmed at top of Pool C, with Malaysia in second. Scotland and New Zealand qualify from Pool D, in that order.
Afternoon Session Update : England and Australia book their playoff places with quick wins over Nigeria and Jamaica – England top Pool B, Australia secind in Pool F. Switzerland dash home hopes as they beat USA 2-1 to qualify alongside Egypt, reaching the top twelve for the first time and defying the seedings.
Evening Session Update : no upsets as Wales, Hong Kong, Germany and Spain complete the twelve qualifiers.
