Day TWO : Last 16 draws decided

Day TWO at Hong Kong Football Club saw the conclusion of the Pool Rounds as the Men’s Top 16 and Women’s Top 12 qualify for the knockout stages.

There weren’t any significant seeding upsets today meaning that all the favourites won through to the last 16/12 phase, but yesterday’s upsets meant that there were some intriguing ties in the men’s last 16 draw.

Pakistan, who beat hosts Hong Kong in day one’s final match, will face Germany – both unseeded – with the winners likely to face Egypt in the quarter-finals –  providing the defending champions get past Canada.

In the bottom half of the draw eighth seeds Hong Kong are up against seventh seeds USA in an intriguing tie, the winners going on to face second seeds England or Spain.

In the women’s draw top seeds Egypt, USA, Belgium and Canada all completed the pool stage unbeaten to earn byes through to the quarter-finals. Hosts Hong Kong completed a hat-trick of 3-0 wins and now face Scotland for the right to play Belgium in the quarters.
